Sonia Cohen

Sonia Cohen is a Senior Program Associate w/ChildFocus. Sonia is also a lived expert consultant, policy strategist, facilitator & child and family wellbeing advocate committed to reimagining child and family wellbeing through the lens of lived experience, healing and equity.

With lived experience in both the child welfare and juvenile justice systems, Sonia bridges personal truth with policy expertise bringing deep empathy and strategic insight into every space she enters. 

Sonia has collaborated on several community and national projects & initiatives including Community-Based Extended Family Care Project, Family First Initiative and Soul Family.

She has moderated and led national conversations on policy reform, youth homelessness, mental health, kinship care and whole-family wellbeing. 

Through her work with ChildFocus, Sonia is also integrating wellness practices into systems change, supporting clients and communities in prioritizing healing as a core component of sustainable impact.

Sonia is deeply committed to creating work grounded in equity, healing and collective wellbeing.
